In this post I explain how different coaching models can help provide clarity and direction to our sessions. These structured frameworks represent the building blocks to design your bespoke coaching journey while ensuring that every step of the process brings you closer to your final goal.

Structure is the backbone of a successful coaching relationship. While each client brings their own unique challenges and objectives, maintaining a clear and consistent direction ensures that every session is productive for you. As a coach, I create bespoke methods that align with your needs and vision, but I also refer back to set and proven frameworks. This balance between flexibility and structure allows us to tackle the issues that are specific to your journey while moving forward on a clear path.

I incorporate a variety of coaching models into my sessions. These models serve as a roadmap, guiding us through the process of assessing your current reality, identifying your next milestones and planning actionable steps.

«In coaching, clarity and structure drive meaningful progress»

One of the most well known frameworks I often reference is the GROW model, which focuses on setting clear outcomes by understanding where you are now before exploring possible new pathways and committing to action. It begins by defining the Goal for the session and  then moves into the Reality phase, where we assess your current situation. This stage involves honest observation of the challenges and obstacles that may be undermining your progress. After acknowledging your starting point, we are now able to explore the Options available and find the best strategy for you to face the direction that you are Willing to pursue.

Other valuable approaches that inform my practice begin with setting the session's agenda and your expectations and revolve around the importance of listening and exploring to allow you to fully express your thoughts and feelings. By doing so, we can identify which core issues need to be addressed and we are able to set out the appropriate actionable steps.

For clients who prefer a more outcome-focused approach, I often propose a framework that begins with defining your specific objective for the session. We then move on to examine where you currently stand in relation to that outcome and set out a plan outlining what is required for you to reach it. We break down the journey into manageable steps and reflect on your accomplishments before paving the way for the next milestones.

To ensure a holistic approach, I begin each meeting with a brief check-in to remind you that our space is safe and confidential. We review what has happened in your life so far and recap how your week went. I always listen to you intently to help you gain a new perspective on your present reality, challenges, and the opportunities that might lie ahead.

When exploring options and possible pathways together, I always ensure that we break them down into smaller actionable steps to make sure that they remain attainable and aligned with your big goal while positively impacting your growth. Finally, concluding every session with a review helps us spell out the key takeaways and remain on the same page. Knowing that I have your back and that I will also hold you accountable is what makes coaching work.
